Did you know September is National Recovery Month?

15 September 2017

SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) is the sponsor of Recovery Month that happens every year in September since 1989.  This year’s theme is “Join the Voices for Recovery: Strengthen Families and Communities.”  This organization aims to “increase awareness and understanding of mental and substance use disorders and celebrate the people who recover.”

If you need encouragement, Recovery Month has a YouTube channel dedicated to stories of people in recovery (https://www.youtube.com/user/recoverymonth). Seeing others in recovery is a wonderful way to motivate you if you are struggling with recovery.  It is possible! Millions of Americans lives have been changed, and so could yours!

The importance of celebrating recovery is highlighted every September through the sharing of these success stories.    Prevention, treatment, and recovery services are all available for you if you find yourself in a situation where recovery needs to be sought after.  If you personally are not suffering from a mental or substance use disorder but know someone who is; please encourage them to get help.

You can also go to this link:https://www.recoverymonth.gov/sites/default/files/toolkit/2017-data-visualizations.pdf for some statistics or simply visit www.recoverymonth.gov or https://www.samhsa.gov/for more resources.  You will also find hotlines to call if you are in need of someone to talk with or any other areas of help.

Please feel free to contact Talbot House (662-255-7533) as well if you are interested in becoming a part of the sober living community.
